Stretching after exercise
After all my one to one training sessions, intensive small group sessions and my bootcamps in Burmham and Gerrards Cross, I get my clients to spend a little stretching as part of their warm down.
Stretching will prevent muscle soreness following exercise. Using stretches to gradually bring the body back to normal, as it was before the warm up, helps the muscles to start repairing. During a training session we are tearing or damaging the muscles, so they will repair themselves bigger and stronger. A muscle cannot repair itself whilst it is warm and pumped up with blood, so the quicker we cool the muscle down, the quicker it will begin to repair itself.
Two particular muscles to stretch are featured opposite where you can see videos of how to stretch these muscles effectively.
